| Doing well enough to get disconnected from the IV fluids and now catching up on his rest |
His glucose has stayed above 60 very well, and his CO2 levels were 21 last night, and then he even got up higher today. They have disconnected all of the wires, and are pulling the IV now, so as soon as we go through the discharge process we are breaking out!
We are going to be tapering his Topomax a quarter dose each week, so it should be 3 weeks and he will be off it completely, barring any increase in seizures. We will also continue at the new ratio of 2.5:1, and see how his seizure control does. We were told that lowering the ratio shouldn't really affect his keytones too bad, so hopefully shouldn't impact seizure control. Also, if this does happen, once he gets doing better for a while, we could always increase the ratio again to try to help.
Surprisingly, with all that is going on Zack has had the absolute best seizure control he has ever really had. He has had a week or two now where his seizures have been only once or twice a day, and they are a brief little jerk (like a subtle spasm) with a slight eye deviation, and he usually only does it once, rather than it going on for 5-10 minutes or more. For that, we are so very blessed and are praying it continues, even with the new changes!
| Dressed and almost ready to go home!!! |
Thank you for very much again for all the prayers and positive thoughts for a quick turn around!! They definitely worked!
